ORAL SURGERY

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the medical-surgical specialty that deals with the prevention, study, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the oral cavity pathology and the craniofacial territory, as well as the cervical structures directly or indirectly related to these structures.

 

WISDOM TEETH

The eruption of the wisdom teeth is an innate physiological process of the human condition. However, there are times that this eruption leads to a bad position of the wisdom tooth that can produce: repeated infections, caries of the adjacent molars, bite injuries, pain, cysts… that force their extraction.

This intervention is usually done in any medical center and, if needed or requested, the four of them can be taken out at once using local anesthesia most times.

MAXILLARY CYSTS

Maxillary cysts are benign intraosseous tumors.

Their origin may be congenital or acquired. The most frequent are the acquired ones, that are usually formed either by chronic teeth infections or by teeth that do not erupt in a normal way.

The treatment is the careful exeresis

 

CANINE FENESTRATION

Sometimes the canines do not erupt normally, staying attached usually on the palate.

In collaboration with the orthodontists, a window to the tusk may be opened so the orthodontist can place an orthodontic brace and then be able to pull the tusk.

MESIODENS

They are supernumerary teeth that block the proper eruption of the permanent teeth in children.
